I used to think stress is something you fix with a vacation.

Or a day off.

Or just “relaxing.”


But the truth is… I don’t get vacations.

I don’t get real days off.

And “relaxing” feels like another task I’m failing at.


Why “Relaxing” Doesn’t Work

When I try to relax, my brain doesn’t stop.

It just finds new things to worry about.

Work. Money. The kids. The house.

The noise.


So relaxing isn’t the answer.

It’s too passive.

What I need isn’t rest—it’s reduction.

I had to start by recognizing the signs of stress before they turned into something permanent, like a complete loss of who I am.


The 3 Types of Stress Dads Face

It’s not just one feeling.

It’s layers.


  1. The noise stress. The immediate, loud pressure of the day.
  2. The role stress. The weight of being the one who has to handle everything.
  3. The internal stress. The feeling that I’m losing who I am inside all of this.

And they all run at the same time.

It’s why so many of us struggle with how to stop overthinking everything we do.


A 10-Minute Reset System

I stopped trying to fix my whole life.

I just try to fix the next 10 minutes.


  • Stand up and move your body for 2 minutes.
  • Drink water slowly.
  • No phone for 5 minutes.
  • One deep breath where you actually feel the air.

It doesn’t solve the problem.

But it interrupts the spiral.

I've also started looking into stress management for men who literally have zero time to spare.


Building a Stress-Proof Routine

I don’t aim for a stress-free life.

I aim for a resilient one.


That means creating small anchors.

A morning moment. A transition ritual after work. A limit on how much I say yes to.


It’s not about escaping your life.

It’s about staying alive inside it.

It's about recovering from burnout before you even realize you've hit the wall.


Because your family doesn’t need a perfectly calm father.

They need a father who is still there.
